
Dr. Young received his undergraduate degree in 1975 from the U.S. Air Force Academy and his Doctorate of Medicine from Tulane University in 1979. He immediately began an internship at Keesler Medical Center in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he remained to complete his residency in General Surgery.
In 1985 Dr. Young was assigned to Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center where he completed his Plastic Surgery residency and became a staff plastic surgeon. In that same year he won the prestigious Surgeon General's Award in Plastic Surgery.
From 1988 through 1995 Dr. Young served as Chief of Plastic Surgery; Chief, Craniofacial Anomalies Board; Chief, Surgical Subspecialty Service; and Regional Consultant in Plastic Surgery at Keesler Air Force Base. From 1989 until 1993 he was the Surgery Department Quality Assurance Director at Keesler.
Dr. Young joined Park Ridge Medical Associates in May, 2005. He relocated to western North Carolina from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where he was a partner at Carolina Coastal Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery from 1995 to 2005. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and also is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and numerous other professional societies. In addition, Dr. Young serves as an inspector for the American Association of Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities and he was president of the South Carolina Society of Plastic Surgeons from 1999-2000.
